Stages of Solar Planning and Installation

Step 1 - Determine How Many Panels You Need

Every home is different and the energy needs vary with demand. Loads such as air conditioning, appliances, and electric vehicles all impact the size requirements of a solar array as does the choice to add backup battery storage.

Free online tools such as Google's project sunroof can help determine the size of the solar array you need. Divide the system kW by 0.365 W to determine the number of Solvari panels required to reach your target DC system size.

Step 2 - Pulling a Permit

In most circumstances, before you install your Solvari panels, you will need to pull a permit. Building departments allow homeowners to be their own contractors to make home improvements.

Online services such as Planet Plan Sets will help you design your system, create a plan set, and provide a full permit package for you to submit to the building department. Once your permit has been approved, you can begin installing your Solvari system.

Step 5 - Pass Inspection and Get Utility Interconnect Approval

Once your system is installed, you will request an inspection from your building department. Since the Solvari systems are pre-engineered making a pre-assembled array, it makes failed inspections highly unlikely.

Once you pass inspection, you submit for interconnect approval from your local utility. After they do their inspection, you will be allowed to connect your system to the grid. You’re now generating your own clean, renewable , and reliable electricity!
